Defence Policy Evolution and Implications on Military Reform and Modernization of Argentina’s Defensive System

Abstract
Currently the Argentine military defense system is undergoing a profound process of reform and modernization, required to address the geopolitical reality of Argentina, immersed in a regional context characterized by low probability of military actions between States and an emerging trend to form a collective security system. This process is structured from the consolidation of two pillars, first building a solid and thorough corpus juris of National Defence and, secondly, by the operationalization of this legal framework through a four-year planning cycle in which the adoption of forces design based on “Capabilities Planning” replacing the “Conflict Hypothesis” is highlighted.
