Abstract

The present work is about the outcome and consequences of the use of infantry in the Civil War of 1891, specifically in the Con Con Battle. In this incident, two conceptions of the use of this force faced each other; the first one, with the presidential support, kept the principles and doctrines that had been established in the army since the Pacific War and had been widely used in this conflict; the second one, used by the troops of the congress, had a more progressive character and included new techniques according to the development of box magazine repeater rifles.
