Abstract

The Chilean State, as the closest nation to Antarctica, has generated an indissoluble relationship with the sixth continent, leading it to develop a solid position towards protecting its national interests. To achieve this, defense sector and in particular the army, have contributed substantially to the national efforts to safeguard Chile’s legitimate interest in Antarctica throughout history.
