The strategic capabilities of the defense and its contribution to the deterrent strategy

Abstract

This article studies the relationship between defense, as a state function, and deterrence, oriented to way of use of defence means. In this context, the National Defense Policy and the Defense Strategy are analyzed as a way that state establish the capabilities, particularly to the Armed Forces require to strengthen and make National Defense effective. Likewise, it is analyzed how the National Defense Policy (2020) impacts on the structuring of the strategic capacities that support the State's Deterrence Strategy.
