Abstract

The Strait of Magellan was discovered 500 years ago. An admirable undertaking, both for its consequences and for the resilience, tenacity and courage of the men who carried it out. Ferdinand Magellan was the inspirer and leader of this feat; however, he could not finish it, Juan Sebastian Elcano was who finally manages to return to the port of departure, three years later. The feat manages to complete the first round the world, thus verifying that the Earth is spherical.
