Clausewitz and the Military Historical Example for Knowledge Generation
Main Article Content
Abstract
Currently, the selection of the lessons learned for the combat doctrine generation should be based on the history of modern battles, rather than on those of ancient history. The epics of the Greeks, Romans and the Middle Ages are an interesting contribution to the formation of the military professional, but they are irrelevant to influence the operational doctrine of an army. Military knowledge requires adapting to the dynamism of the sciences, to the evolution of society, to the changes in army organizations, to the various weapons that have arrived on the battlefield and, even more, to the new ways to employ forces in contemporary military operations.
