Abstract

This work analyzes the scope of the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) in the face of multidimensional threats. It recognizes that although IPB structures the analysis in a logical manner, its scope proves insufficient when state and non-state actors, organized crime, and current conflict typologies converge, both globally and nationally. It is proposed to complement IPB with a holistic and systemic approach, operational environment, the identification of centers of gravity, and the dynamic interaction among actors shaping the environment. The conclusion is that the Intelligence function must shift from a descriptive approach to a systemic one, capable of anticipating hybrid scenarios and thus enhancing its contribution to decision-making
