Abstract

This article addresses the issue of formulating hypothesis in historical research. Firstly, the 101 notion of hypothesis in social science research is analyzed with the aim of distinguishing its essential elements. Secondly, hypothesis in historical research is examinated according to the historical
method requirements. Finally, some practical considerations are extracted from the analysis.
