Command and Control. Trends and Application

Abstract

The command and control systems have evolved from a basic and simple concept to an extremely agile and integrated structure, which has the ability to make decisions in previously uni- maginable times and with surprising accuracy. In this context, this paper aims to conceptualize and describe the role of command and control in an area as complex and far-reaching as defense. In order to do that, a conceptual framework associated with command and control and information as an asset is presented. Later, a series of global trends associated to command and control are shown. And finally, the author presents a conceptual model that allows to visualize, in a simplified and synthetic way, how global trends have been applied on systems in use today.
